The 20th International Storytelling Festival in Iran has scheduled to host raconteurs the world over, including those from the host country.
The Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults in Tehran will host storytellers from Iran and around the world at the 20th International Storytelling Festival, which is scheduled to take place from January 21-25.
Patrons are expected to be delighted by contributions from the various categories of the festival, comprising of story writing, storytelling and research.
The storytelling category includes educational and folklore sections as well as a section for the works presenting ‘Shahnameh’ (Book of Kings), an epic poem by the celebrated Persian poet Ferdowsi.
Jury members of the festival are authors Soudabeh Amini, Kamran Sharaf-Shahi and Mostafa Rahmandoust.
The story writing section has already reviewed 76 stories submitted from the provinces and selected three works, namely: ‘Do You Understand Leyla?’ by Marzieh Fa’lehgari and ‘We Are All Pilgrims Here’ by Masoumeh Karimi from Hamedan Province, as well as ‘Under the Sun’ by Asieh Rahmati from Khuzestan Province.
The event particularly focuses on educational topics and subjects promoting the Iranian-Islamic lifestyle.
Foreign storytellers have also participated in the competition section of the event since last year.
